We want to open by saying it’s perfectly legal to be a part of rallies or public gatherings to help defend a regulation in federal or otherwise. The right to publicly gather is very much alive. Also, that typically our articles address issues in the developmental intellectual disability community and organizations that represent them. Either way, these tips are very generalized and can be utilized and applicable to several organizations and populations.
There are some specific tips, however, we would like to give out to organizations who are considering attending any public rallies. We have no official stance on the issue either way, we just want to share some information for safety purposes.
1 Gather as much information about the rally event in general. Trying to get a hold of an organizer This will allow you to make sure that all. Concerns or questions you may have can be addressed in advance.
2. Sign up for any informational purposes regarding the event you’re going to attend. If held outside of public office hours, the offices remain closed.
3. Always conduct yourself accordingly, organization be organized and plan your actions in advance.
Any Organizations will have guidelines. The purpose of such an event is to bring direct attention to. issues impacting the developmental disability world. To be safe and well informed. Have your organization do its research on the issue being addressed to make sure you align yourself with the issues being represented at such an event. Knowledge is the most power any organization can have when it comes to political advocacy on any level. There are multiple routes available to take. It is key to figure out which one best fits your organization.
Events like rallies usually last one to two hours, after which participants disperse. Any after events of the rally organizations and the organizers of the rally will relay that information to attendees that wish to receive it.
